Here are some options sponsored by the University for getting around campus.
TigerTransit Bus Shuttles
Princeton University’s TigerTransit transportation system operates on a fixed route schedule, providing safe, convenient and reliable transportation throughout the Princeton campus and the surrounding community. Timetables and routes may change during the academic year and summer breaks. All TigerTransit buses are wheelchair accessible.
The Saturday/Sunday Shopper
This free bus service offered by TigerTransit takes you to Whole Foods, Wegmans, Walmart, or Trader Joe’s. Pickup at the Dinky Station or Graduate student residences.
Enterprise Car-Share
Students can join the car-share program for a $20 application fee and $40 annual membership fee. Renting a car costs $7/hour, or $45/day on weekdays and $65/day on weekends. You will need a valid driver’s license and major credit card in your name.
Revise Your Ride
Revise Your Ride is Princeton University’s comprehensive commute benefits program, supporting employees and students in choosing to commute by public transit, sharing a ride with a colleague, biking, or walking instead of driving alone.
Bike Rentals
Need a bike for the semester? Rent an affordable, quality bike from Transportation and Parking Services. No need to worry about summer storage or what to do with your bike when you graduate.
Public Safety Medical Transports
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) may provide transportation to the local hospital, University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro (UMCPP), in limited situations. Once a student is released from either University Health Services or UMCPP and transportation is medically necessary, DPS will transport to the student’s dorm or campus apartment. DPS does not transport to other off campus locations.
On-Demand Bus Service
Offered through Transportation and Parking Services, students can request a bus ride between 10:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. during the academic year using the TigerTransit app (TransLoc Rider) or by going to the TransLoc Rider website. After creating an account, users can select a pick-up and drop-off location (based on their current location, or from a drop-down menu of previous locations) and an On-Demand bus is dispatched.
Skateboards/Rollerblades
Rollerblades and skateboards may only be used on paved pedestrian paths. Rollerblading or skateboarding is not permitted inside the dormitories at any time. Rollerblades and skateboards may not be ridden on or used on any ramp, stairs, wall, bench, handrail, fountain or other building features.
Tip: View the campus accessibility map for further information on building accessibility and accessible routes around campus.

Here are some options for getting to nearby shopping centers, towns, and the airports.
Princeton Free B
This is a free bus that loops around Princeton Borough during commuter hours, making stops throughout the community and at the NJ Transit Dinky train station. You can catch the Free B bus at the Dinky station or Palmer Square.
Local Buses
Local buses can take you to Plainsboro, Trenton, Montgomery, Quaker Bridge Mall, Hamilton, and New Brunswick for $1.60 one way. You can catch local buses at the Dinky station or the intersection of Witherspoon Street and Wiggins Street (near the Princeton Public Library). The Coach USA No. 100 Bus runs on Nassau Street (Route 27) to Kingston, Kendall Park, Franklin Park, North Brunswick, New Brunswick, East Brunswick, and New York City. You can take this bus at the bus stop in front of FitzRandolph Gate.
Taxis
There is a taxi stand on Nassau Street just to the left of the north Elm Drive gates. There are generally always taxis waiting there most times of the day. You can calculate approximate taxi fares using Taxi Fare Finder.
Uber/Lyft
While prices for ride-sharing apps often fluctuate, it is worth checking to see if Uber or Lyft could offer a cheaper option. Uber and Lyft can be downloaded from the app store of your smartphone or tablet if you have one. You can estimate fares online for Uber using the Uber Fare Calculator, and fares for Lyft using the Lyft Fare Calculator.
